You most likely think of the sun, sea and beach when you think of Miami. You’re probably not the only one and that’s exactly what the organisers of the Miami Grand Prix had in mind too.
The Grand Prix of Miami will be on the Formula 1 calendar for the first time in 2022 and we’ll give you a little spoiler: this will be an outstanding one. Currently, the organisation is busy constructing an incredible circuit including a real beach club in the middle of the circuit. You know what they say: only in Miami!
About the Formula 1 circuit
The circuit is 5.41 km long and consists of nineteen turns and three straights. The circuit provides space for three DRS zones. In these zones, drivers can open up their rear wing by using the DRS system.
This reduces drag and promotes overtaking, which makes the race even more nerve-wracking. On the long straight, the F1 heroes are expected to be able to reach a top speed of 320 kilometres per hour. Spectacular!
Beach hut in the middle of the Grand Prix circuit
The Grand Prix in Miami promises to be one to impress spectators. The Hard Rock Beach Club is being built in the “overtaking zone” of the circuit. There are several tickets to book for the Grand Prix in Miami, including the ‘Beach Houses Cabanas & Bungalows’ tickets.
These tickets reserve an exclusive spot at this beach club on the edge of turn 12. “The Hard Rock Beach Club will be a unique experience on the MIA campus, featuring international musical artists and a high-energy Miami vibe with beach cabanas and resort-style pools,” said Jeremy Walls, Senior VP and Chief Revenue Officer of Hard Rock Stadium & Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
Sounds like a dream, right? However, this breathtaking experience does come with a hefty price tag. Tickets for this one and only experience start from a price of $5,000. In addition, this beach club will be used for performances during the race weekend.
The date of Miami Grand Prix 2022
We have to be a little patient to see the Formula 1 cars tear around this speedy track. The Miami Grand Prix will take place on the weekend of May 6-8, 2022. On Friday, May 6, the two free practices start, followed by the third practice and qualifying on Saturday.
